Maintenance Carpenter
Bethlem Royal Hospital – BR3 3BX
South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust
37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.00 – 16.30
Band 4 – £14.79 per hour

About the role:
This job is for a Maintenance Carpenter who has a good general knowledge of commercial and domestic buildings. In your duties as a Maintenance Carpenter there will be statutory checks in line with Approved Code of Practice (Building Regulations, HBN & HTM).
You will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as working within a team. You will need to possess knowledge of building structures and fabric as well as fire compartmentalisation and fire door maintenance including planned preventative maintenance (PPM). Applicants should be able to arrange their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks in a safe and tidy manner.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out maintenance repairs promptly upon request.
Conducting daily property inspections and preventative maintenance checks, recording relevant readings and findings.
Ensuring proper care of tools, materials and equipment.
Assisting third-party contractors to support health and safety performance.
Logging all jobs and planning/scheduling daily maintenance tasks for the team.
Prioritizing maintenance tasks based on available resources and importance.
Organizing and following up on quotes when applicable.
Maintaining accurate records of work carried out at the hospital.
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
Ideally qualified to NVQ2 / Equivalent or higher in Carpentry or Joinery
Full Driving licence
Experience of working within a maintenance environment
Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance
Experience working for associated trades
Knowledge of fire door maintenance and fire compartmentalisation
